JolietJackHammers Troop/Family Baseball Game – Join the Girl Scouts at the Silver Cross Stadium in downtown Joliet for a Joliet JackHammers Baseball Game. Come see the home team play ball, see Jammer (JackHammers mascot) and help the Girl Scouts raise funds for the special programs offered to the girls during the year. Let’s Go To The Races – Volunteer to work at the NHRA (Route 66 Raceway), the NASCAR (July) or ARCA/IRL races (September) at the ChicagoLand Speedway. Volunteers can work as ushers, elevator attendants or bag checkers. All volunteers must attend a mandatory training prior to the event. Woman of Strength - Each March, Girl Scouts of Trailways Council, Inc. honors a special Woman of Strength. She represents an excellent role model for girls through her work and examples of leadership and giving back to the community. Past recipients of this honor include: Joan Krecioch, forensic specialist at Will County Health Department; Joan Geissler, retired superintendent of Union School; Carmen Morales, Community Relations Director of Nicor Gas; Jean Hansen, manager of Joliet Office for Illinois Department of Employment Security; Debra Lee Townsend, director and founder of Building Esteem Support Teams/Anger Adjusters and Sandra Cowgill, Executive Director of the Will/Grundy Medical Clinic.
